In the Tuskegee study, they didn't actually give people syphilis. They found people who already HAD syphilis and purposely withheld the cure from them. Treated every other medical condition they had EXCEPT the syphilis, just to see what would happen. Not that I'm defending them, just that I want to be correct about exactly what kind of injustice we are talking about.
What happens when you purposely untreat someone with syphilis and give them the illusion they are cured? I would say over all those years one could argue they gave innocent people syphilis through their program.
