I never understood this. I also don’t understand trying to go the route of exemptions. It is my choice and I will not be forced or feel I should have to hide that choice.

Fear of confrontation. People want a way to circumnavigate the situation with as little resistance as possible. Totally understandable but the time for being passive is over.
