28 days instead of 30 is good for averaging out any effects from days of the week. For example if every Monday has extra reports from the weekend bundled in, your data will look sketchy if you happen to have 5 Mondays in your 30-day period. With a 28-day measurement that won't happen.
I guess I didn't think of that. 4 x 7 = 28. My engineering brain only does hard math these days, and my brain automatically assumed it was something sinister. Thanks for pointing it out.
