I thought that was very odd that a code person couldn't read a simple .bat file. It's a simple list of commands, which you can research on the internet. All of us who were into computers back in the 80s had to know about batch files and scripts, as all the DOS machines needed those files tweaked for various things, such as adding a mouse or CD drive.
I wrote one many years ago that did some funny monkey business to a manager's computer and then erased all evidence when he touched the keyboard. Of course, I was the only person in the entire company who knew enough to do that, so they came after me to find out how I did it. So I carefully explained it in detail, and the IT guy was impressed.
