I wouldn't say the author is very good at checking his writing before submitting it for publication.

I have won numerous awards for science writing…

The quote above is from his bio where he appears to have left out the word "fiction" after the word "science". I don't care if he believes he is not smart enough, but he better not be including me in his "we" group.
