Looked it up - a single crutch is used on the opposite side from the injured leg. She's using it correctly. When I saw the picture, I thought she was using it on the wrong side as well.

The link has an instructional video showing how to use a crutch with a walking boot. You use it in the opposite side.
You want the extra stability from a wide base supported on opposite sides.
If you can’t put weight on it, you use two crutches or other tools to avoid standing on it at all.
It’s called a “walking” boot for a reason.
