i don't see my reply anymore but if it did go through i was going to add that mine collapsed bc of little air pockets called blebs that are on the inside lung lining. they can let air out little by little, pushing the actual lung down. so while i was operated on, the surgeon just lobbed off the very bottom of my lung since they were clustered there. mine were activated by an epic crash on a wakeboard. they are hereditary and don't do anything unless they do. most people never know they have them. interestingly enough, my dad (in his 70s) just had blebs crash his lung. (POST VAX!!!!!!!!) he has had COPD for years from smoking so has been hacking every morn for years, yet in his 70s and post vax, his lung crashes NOW. coicidence? and obviously i got them from his side.
THANKS FREN!! im good now. It was like 11 years ago. Still annoying at times but im good and here! I was no regular wakeboarder by any means. Just had fun on the weekends with my pals at the time. Prob why i shouldnt have been at the top of a wake lol. I actually dont even remember crashing either. And apparently insisted i go again. They did not let me i heard lol. I am a tiny woman. It kicked my ass
i believe so. i do not remember a lot from that month in the hospital and practically a year recovering but yea.....i think you're right. it is essentially 3rd degree burns on the inside. still gets sore if i turn too far bc it wants to move and can't. my surgery was called pleurodesis.
Yep similar! Both get fluid in the lungs!! Chest tube city. I had 3 tubes by the time i went in and came out.. Woke up with 2 comin outta me after surgery. Very weird experience to say the least. I was in tbe ICU like 4 diff times in that month and dont even remember to this day.
Its basically like talcum powder right? My dad had over 50 thoracentesis over six month or so. That was one option for him.

My old man had what was called pleural effusion. I remember looking into what ever type of treatment they had.
