What happened is exactly what they wanted to happen. Nothing like this is ever a surprise for the people paying attention.

We only have to ask ourselves what benefit does having the Taliban in charge give and to whom?

Another excuse for another endless war?

Drive opium production somewhere else?

Build up the Taliban so they can come in through the southern border?

who knows what they're planning, but they're definitely planning something.
