The 6% is barely visible to the eye but enough that AI will treat it as a different color than the adjacent pixel, if you use that trick and cover about 3/4 of the image you can often revive banned memes. Anyway, if you do that with text it becomes a captcha test for the AI but is barely noticeable to human readers.
