Sorry I have no sauce for this quote but: "NEVER issue an order that you do not KNOW will be obeyed." I think it came from a book or a movie maybe. A commander must KNOW their soldiers - and what they will and will not do.

Wow. Now THAT's a Denzel Washington / Gene Hackman movie I need to see - but I don't think it came from that. I'm straining to remember something MUCH older.
