Yeah, and I'm saying it's a distinct possibility. Ezekiel 8 parallels this as it foretells of sun worship in the temple of God in the end times. It's also a conspiracy theory pushed by the Seventh Day Adventists, particularly Walter Veith who is high up in their Amazing Discoveries SDA promotional and educational (propaganda) media business.
I'm not saying I agree with the SDA. Their whole Ellen G. White prophet was either demonically possessed or a very talented con artist. That said, a stopped clock is right twice a day and other reformers predicted the Roman Catholic Church would become the beast power of Revelation 13. Enforcing a system of false worship is part of the mark, so.......
