That's my guess. They came here as trespassers and never left. They are usurpers of our dominion.

that somehow we got messed up with the wrong crowd, and God is waiting for us to come to our senses.

these 'usurpers' are like a spiritual virus, and the antidote is prayer. Jesus could see right through them, and they didn't like that, hence the reason they hate him so much.
