If we knew the truth about everything then there would be no reason to exist. All life is is the journey of learning. Without lies there would be no truth, no life, no existence.
The reason is always to improve what the truth is. We hate deception and must laboriously manage to view beyond it to find the truth; once we see the truth, we work to change it to be a more elegant truth. There is no genuine value in a lie and life would be both simpler and more elegant without them.
Indeed, the truth exists irrespective of whether lies exist or not. The truth is what is true, reality itself. Put one apple in a basket, you have one apple in a basket. add another, and that's 1+1 apple, 2 apples. That is truth. It cannot be disputed, and no lie can change that reality. Sure, a lie can distort, obscure, and misrepresent the truth, but the truth remains beneath those lies.

Lies are not needed for truth to exist.
