What happens if Kamala becomes Prez, does that mean the D's lose the tie breaker vote in Senate?

As long as the individual is Constitutionally qualified to be President, yes. Then a majority vote by both the House and the Senate.

It's laid out clearly by the 25th Amendment.

Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

Read the article, and am not really sure how they seem so certain that Democrats are worried about a 50/50 tie failing in the VP nomination under Kamala Harris. Continuity of government isn't something that the legislature likes to fuck around with, and nominations usually don't get that much fight, even if the nomination hearings are loud and obnoxious.

Plus, Nancy Pelosi would still be the next in line if Harris were to stop being POTUS anyway.

Not sure that basing a theory on Mitch McConnell being able to indefinitely hold back the entire Republican party indefinitely from clearing a VP nomination holds much water.
