I commented this on another post a few days back. Felt it was relevant to this post, so I copied it over.

I noticed something regarding their new flag. It is black calligraphy, in Pashto if I'm not mistaken, on a white field. Three things.
This is unusual for a Muslim country. Most flags of Muslim countries, with rare exception, use some combination of red, green, black and/or white. Some use only two, such as Saudi Arabia (white on green), but I've not been able to find another Muslim country whose flag has the same black on white color scheme as Afghanistan.
The color scheme is a reversal of the ISIS flag, which is white on black.
If you have been following the odd trend of Twitter banners and profile pics for certain people turning greyscale (HRC, Obama, certain Hollywood figures, not to mention the logo of the CIA after Biden came in), the theory has been thrown around that these greyscale pics are comms which represent that that particular entity has been neutralized by the white hats. Perhaps this new, technically greyscale Afghan flag is communicating the same thing:
The person that writes the Decoding Symbolism blog has spoken about black and white with regards to those that have been neutralized or flipped. I didn't know about the flag. Thanks for sharing.

"Clowns out, strings cut."
Regarding the reversal of the ISIS flag from white on black to black on white...this might be a stretch, but dark to light?
