Each variant is weaker than the one before it, right? It can't be designed to kill the non-vaxxed becaise we are aware of the effective drugs that will keep it from killing up. It may kill many of the vaxxed though.
We keep reverting back to wild virus behavior, remember this is a novel virus that is likely a bio weapon that was lab designed, it may behave uniquely
I agree that it may not be typical virus behavior. It looks like variants are "pop up" in certain places, which initially are virulent and then become more mild as they are transmitted through the population. It looks to me like it's almost a planned release: NY & Seattle in Jan. 2020; Midwest in Oct. 2020; Texas & Florida in Summer, 2021.

That's the natural way viruses tend to evolve, they become more successful the less often they off their host before spreading to others.
