There is a time and a place for emotion. I think Jocko Willink would agree. My son is a very sensitive person. I tell him that, “When you’re hunting tigers, it’s no time to be emotional.”
If hunters (mostly ancient) allowed emotions to control them, their family would starve.
For me, that applies when:
There is important work to be done
Making critical, life-altering decisions
Leading people (Jocko says you have to detach yourself from the situation)
Investing (the best investors are able to detach, almost seen as cold and calculated)
On the flip side, it’s important to show emotion when showing empathy to others, or before reaching a mental breakdown.
I just hate the focus on “vulnerability” by the soy boy left - like they’re trying to castrate masculinity.
