One thing I grappled with, like many others was the Trump endorsement of the vaccine. We already hashed out he needed to rush it out for the EUA so we have choice. That makes sense.
Then we had the endorsements by the big guys associated with Trump i.e DeSantis..McEnany etc etc... they can’t outright reject it bc most people have been conditioned to think “vaccine good” and it would be too divisive for Republican leaders to come out and oppose the vax. The left will hijack the conversation from freedom of choice into a Republicans are anti-science issue. That makes sense
Then it was troubling to find out about the Robert Kennedy thing with Trump allegedly cancelling Kennedy’s vaccine committee while taking 1 million dollars allegedly from Pfizer. Why would he stop the vaccine committee if he was talking about vaccines so much in his election campaign? Couple of options here:
-
Usual politician move. Talk about things your base cares about and when you get into power ignore it. This is a possibility but given trumps track record for keeping campaign promises, it doesn’t make much sense.
-
A vaccine committee probably won’t be able to do much since current laws that need to be changed would need to be voted on and there’s not enough votes to make big changes.
-
Just like the elections, people need to see corruption to demand change. Since this vaccine debacle, it has exposed the FDA as merely a facade for science and safety. The rules and regulations can be easily bent and dispensed at a moments notice if needed to fit a narrative or help skirt laws. Would we have noticed these if things didn’t happen this way?
Consider the alternative. If Hillary had won, the vaccine would not have been available via EUA. We would be locked down for 5 years while the scientist study the virus and come out with a vaccine. No one would suspect the FDA bc everything was “by the book”. A lot more people would have taken the vaccine because it wasn’t “rushed”. A lot more people would trust the vaccine. If Trump was a black hat, why the heck would he do all this to make everything a chaotic mess?
The only logical conclusion is that we had to gut the FDA, CDC and WHO. And this exposes all three of them beautifully.
Hence I continue to TrustThePlan ©️
A comment on an another thread nailed it. I'll paraphrase it.
It would be more powerful if Trump initially supported and championed the vaccines and then as damning information slowly trickled out, Trump would slowly start questioning the vaccines and make "interesting" comments about Pfizer owning the FDA....etc. This would be very Sun Tzu.
"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."
"Victorious warriors win first and then go to war." - Sun Tzu
Trump is not publicly fighting the vaccines because the vaccines will destroy themselves, in a sense. Don't interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.
