You must have not seen all the movies and TV Shows that portray the CDC as our only hope, and saving grace in a global pandemic.

Desk jockeys should NEVER have authority over clinicians in the field taking care of patients. And government should never single out a specific diagnosis and pour taxpayer funds into it. We are poorly served and hospitals are no longer safe.
