Years ago I heard about his podcast, people would tell me randomly during deep conversations I should check out his podcast and it would offend me. I'd think to myself 'wtf? The guy from fearfactor? Why the fuck would I want to watch that? So I can watch some losers buttchugg donkey cum?'
Then one day I saw a he had a guest on I had been super interested in. I don't even remember what guest it was because while watching it my reality was dissolving - I saw the deep and profound questions Joe had and the off the cuff genuine conversationalist he was. It made me realize, I didn't know shit about him other than he was on that fearfactor show that I never actually watched. It made me realize I had built up an entire view of him in my head based on that one single fact and then I had extrapolated from it an unjustified opinion of his entire ethos and being. There is a word for that, and that word is bigot.
So now I try to pay more attention to my own opinions and thoughts, do I really know as much as I think I do about anything or anyone? Or am I just creating fantasies in my head and rationalizing them in my ignorance?
I'm so glad he's taking this stance publically and here's to hoping he doesn't get offed for it.
Joe Rogan made me realize what a bigot I was/am.
