Well gee fucking whiz. Maybe, just maybe, you guys need to look up the origins of the police as an institution. It'll really open your eyes because these mfers are not on your side no matter how much you kiss their asses, and they never have been, and they never will be. They are there to brutalize the working class. Period. It's been that way ever since the unions first came into existence demanding things like an abolition of the company store and company credits used to put workers into indentured servitude. Look up the massacres of the gilded age if you want to get over your thin blue line BS.
You misread my post. Jesus fucking christ see past your prejudice and look at history for a second. Why the fuck do you think we have labor day? Why do we have time off? Why do we have safe workplaces? Why is child labor outlawed? Do you think the government did that shit on it's own? It was the unions that fought and bled and died for that shit. We have laws protecting workers from abuse and enslavement by their employers BECAUSE PEOPLE ORGANIZED AND USED COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. Pensions are good. Retirement is good. Being protected from your boss coercing you into sex is good. Labor laws are good and they are the reason you can get paid a fair wage for your work instead of whatever your boss feels like paying you that week. It's the unions that did that shit. People were massacred for the perks you take for granted. Railroad companies hired private armies to turn their rifles on striking workers. The police were originally formed to break up strikes using brutality and lethal violence.
All that came from private sector unions. Unions of government workers, public sector unions, are an entirely different matter, pitting public institutions against the public.
Perhaps I didn't emphasize that difference enough, but I was only referring to public sector unions. Feel free to disagree on that, but don't argue against stuff I never said.

Among other things, public sector unions have got to go. By definition, they organize in opposition to the public interest.
