I have to believe they have batteries in place, but would you risk escalation when the main ally you count on to save your ass just demonstrated how much they are inept militarily / in China's pocket?

If you dont escalate intrusion into your airspace, then all the money spent on protection was a giant waster of money. Foreign aid for military defense is a big scam.
