Kinda like the Salem witch trials. They were made afraid of a unseeable, unknowable "thing" and are grasping for something that makes sense to them.

Hate is easier to grab onto, way easier than Truth & personal responsibility.

Imagine if they spent 1/4 of the energy they do on hating on just looking for the truth.
