It's not happening just because of the holiday. One of my kids is working in a dollar general and they are constantly out of ice. (rural NY) She's worked between 2 locations and it's the same everywhere, including convenience stores. She was told they can't get enough refrigerated trucks to do enough deliveries, but we are both puzzled that so many people have been using so much bagged ice.
Yeah, I get that it could end of summer, people more out than normal, but this has been going on for over a month and stores keep telling us they didn't get their shipment and NOT "yeah it all sold to the partiers earlier today - you missed out". Again, maybe this is just paranoia but it's just weird and thought other people might have seen this in their area.
Lots of people doing outside stuff. Lots of coolers being loaded up this morning at my local 7-11 for good times (picnics, couple boats etc) since 'inside stuff' aka movie theaters etc are kinda on the outs.
