i thought of this a while ago. finally thought i would share in case anyone would feel better by hearing it - some of you may have already thought of this, but as a former mil person i am a little less pissed about the equipment left behind in afghan as i thought about it more. was it wrong? fuck yes, of course. esp the china reverse engineering shit, but even that, i hate to tell you they have most of our stuff already, we are so infiltrated w chinese in all of our academia and mil-industrial complex its horrifying.

anyway, heres the slightly silver lining: most of the shit the afghans got looks cool NOW and it makes for good photo ops NOW. hey look a parade of taliban in cool armored vehicles! but why does it look cool? bc american mil maintain their shit and have tons of specialized people and tools to do so. the afghans dont know how to do this stuff, and wouldnt recognize which tools do what or how to use them in the slightest. the MRAPs they got, that shit is infuriating, but we left them perfectly maintained, gassed up, fluids changed, etc. i can believe these taliban retards can figure out how to at least refuel an MRAP, but an MRAP is not a camry, when it needs ANY other maintenance i believe it will begin its quick descent into scrap metal. esp the sensitive electronic parts. or lets talk about the comms equipment, i will tell you, you have to use special encryptors to listen in on US comms or to keep the US from listening to you. those encryptors take special training and they are easy to fuck up and they have tamper-proof failsafes and will lock if you get one of the many steps wrong. i was trained to use them and there were a couple times i accidentally locked myself out of these things and had to take them to NSA staff to get reset.

anyway, my point is, a lot of this stuff, they will never get to enjoy the benefits of bc theyre too fucking stupid and untrained. some other stuff they will use for a short time until it breaks down from no maintenance or poor maintenance. a year from now, if they havent been wiped out for some other reason, i will at least tell you they will have a tiny fraction of the shit they have now. they will cannibalize things to make other things work. they will destroy stuff by misusing it

our mil is awesome for a lot of reasons, there are layers of dependencies that make a military lethal and effective. the taliban has none of that depth and none of those skillsets. even the pallets of cash are probably already gone, soaked into the corrupt fabric of that shithole. am i mad? yes. is the current admin trash? yes. was it intentionally left? very likely. but will it matter even a year from now? not as much as i first thought. i am a lot less worried than when i first heard about it. hope this helps, even a little
