Honestly, I think the second movie tried to set up a sequel that could never be good enough to justify the second movie.
I enjoyed all three, and I remember being very excited for the third one based on the second one. And realizing after that despite being a little disappointed, I have no idea how a third movie could have ever delivered a satisfying end to that trilogy. They wrote themselves into a promise they could never realistically fulfill.
I am curious to see how a fourth one goes. A reboot probably would have been more justified if they were just looking to print money, but Keanu Reeves is a popular name right now, and I canβt blame them for trying to take advantage of it.
