I get your point, but spirit animals are also a Native American custom and not associated by them with the kind of witchcraft you refer to.

The article mentioned that the Bidens' fascination with Harry Potter is what led them to use these spirit animals. As far as I'm aware, Harry Potter is all about traditional English witchcraft, not Native American animism.

I never watched a single Harry Potter movie, didn't make the connection in the article, and so your reference was lost on me. I just didn't want to leave it that all animal spirit practices are related to witchcraft.
