A "multiplexed method" is ONE test that can tell you whether a patient has the flu or covid. Currently we have what's called a singleplex test for flu and a singleplex for covid. The current test can tell you if you have covid yes/no but you have to do a separate test for the flu. This article does not say what you think it says.
When you say "the other" are you referring to the multiplex version? Because my understanding is that those don't actually exist yet. But yes, the flu situation is very strange regardless.
