The hornets were discovered in North Whatcom County, Washington. North What Comm? is just across from the Canada/US border. Asian hornets are not native to US, hence dangerous aliens/foreigners that are crossing over the border into the US. Third time this year that it's occurred.
Plans are underway to eliminate this threat. One of the foreigners has been "tagged and released" after reports of two foreigners being seen the day before. Authorities have located and are tracking one of the foreigners back to the "nest" where other foreigners are gathered.
"The insects can be dangerous to humans, but experts stress that a bigger threat posed by the invasive species is its potential to wipe out honey bee populations." As a guess, they're not as dangerous to civilians/humans, but to gov't workers/agents/honey bees? Honey bees gather pollen to make nectar. Gov't agents gather data for amassing intelligence.
