Teens are prone to phases and embracing fads. To some (probably major) degree that's what the gender dysphoria is about, along with the grass is always greener. And instead of getting assistance with working through whatever it is that put this idea in their head, they're being encouraged to permanently alter themselves and without any true understanding of the consequences.
