I avoid bottled water completely, I have a PUR filter attached to my kitchen faucet that is good for at least 90 days per filter (bought at thrifts for 10 cents on the dollar). Even though my cities water has won awards, the infrastructure has contaminants inherent to plumbing, There are times when the filter gets really slow and I figure it is during/after repairs or flushing. I've been doing this for many years and have gone through several 10s of filters used for coffee and any meal using water.
i have concerns about what's in the filter and what chemically bonds to the "treated" water. i say this as a civil engineer with an environmental discipline. it can be so hard to know best sources, but simply making sure your supply doesn't have fluoride is a great first step
The structure of the filter is researchable, the claims of filtration have been tested, and a final layer of minerals imparts a good flavor to the water. Fluoride can and should be banned and with the present takeover of pertinent legislations and city councils should do the trick.
