Mods, hope this is okay. Figured it might be a good idea for anons to grow their own food.
With shortages in stores and more likely coming, just thought I'd share this link on aquaponics. I plan to get my husband to buy a few IBC totes so we can get started. You can grow plants and raise fish for your family in a 45" x 45" space. The link is to an Australian site but is an excellent resource. I want a couple to grow bunches of vegetables in one and lots of fruit in the other. As long as we're investing the time, I'm buying heirloom seeds to get the most nutrition and no GMO's. You can purchase used totes. Of course, just use those that have carried food grade liquid.

Thank-you for the link!
I sure do miss my salt water tank. It was pretty large and a central support across the top was getting loose so I had to give away my stock and empty the tank because the whole tank could have blown! Meanwhile, we became the grandparents 4x so my tank energy has been redirected. When they're older though, I'd like to get them involved in both the tanks and the aquaponics.
Hmmm, think I will get my husband to help me setup systems for our children and they can get their children to help. Knowing how to become self sustaining - at least food wise- is important for all of us. The kids already help Papa ( my husband) with his boxed gardens and they love weeding and picking vegetables. Our 8 year old grandson is the salad king!
