Ask anyone who has flown into NZ in the past 30 years, there are stern warnings about importing anything organic into the country all over the arrivals corridors, they even have them on the air stairs, and they mean it.
You have to sit in the aircraft for a few minutes after docking while some people spray the cabin with some sort of anti bug spray.
Its a regular occurrence to hear of some self important celebrity getting busted for importing an apple core or orange peel, they squeal that they are too important to be arrested but the more they squeal the more the fine is and deportation is on the cards as well.
