That's what they do. They don't threaten the person directly, they go after the loved ones. That was a warning shot. Kill the boyfriend with the message being that they can kill your son or daughter just as easily.

A lot of politicians have extended relatives that die young. Ralph Nadar's granddaughter died in a airline crash in Ethiopia a couple of years ago.
