The Senate is the party that threatened to remove their indemnity as they are who the audit team was contracted to do the work for. The Senate does not want to be sued for releasing information that might not be ripe for criminal charges yet is my take on this. In other words, don't release the information until they have an iron-clad case to present because they don't want a judge to stop this process from being fully investigated so a complete case can be made - if audit team DOES release information and it costs the Senate financially, then the audit team would have to pay the damages.
