protonmail said all the emails are end to end encrypted with hashes generated from user's password.
If that's true, they should have no ability to comply.
They had a warning when I signed up, saying that if you lose your password to your account, they can't help you recover it because they can't decrypt it themselves.
Your password is used to decrypt your emails and other data. Proton does not have access to it. If you forget your password, you will lose the ability to read your existing emails and access saved data.
You can regain access to your Proton account only if you remember your previous password by following these steps.
Thanks! I thought I read something to that effect when I created my accounts. I also have Ctemplar email based out of Iceland and it’s supposed to be end to end 4096 bit encryption.
Does Protonmail keep record of all your email history or are they gone forever once you delete them like Ctemplar mail?
