there are backups, and backups of backups. there's load balancing. there are whole alternate sites. the chances of all of that failing and nobody being able to get it running again was slight after an hour. we're at 5 now.

It's intentional. But who is doing it and why is yet to be known for sure. We MIGHT know and it's a safe bet considering today's deltas. Only time will tell.
