Thanks for the response. I tend to agree about the nuke question. I also highly doubt a nuke would be used where I live and they only have a relatively small area of effect right? It's probably a silly question given my last conclusion but do you think a Geiger counter is at all worth it? As far as my reasons for getting some kind of mask I think I've just wondered whether the police or a military force may use tear gas or similar on the people.
I'm going to investigate getting some Ivermectin etc. from India, I think my options are limited in this regard being in Australia.
Your comment about water purification is valid and I need to ensure I develop some more knowledge in that area. I do have some purification tablets and a sawyer mini but nothing crazy--a Berkey is on my list of future acquisitions. They have two kinds of filters right? Do you store both or just one kind?
I actually kinda regret choosing this name as it was mostly just a funny trend to me at the time and I sold my measly portion a good while ago--all the best with yours though!
The Berkey has double or quadruple filters. The black filters IIRC filter out chemicals and heavy metals and the white ones filter out pathogens. I'd also have backup filters. If you are going to be filtering turbid water, you may want to consider building a sand filter to pre-filter the water - this will vastly extend the life of the filters. Remember, you will need a minimum of 1 gal/day/pp.
I don't own a Geiger counter and I live at Ground Zero. Spend the money on other more valuable items. Also, make sure you have Where There is No Doctor in PDF. Also same books available for dentist and vet. Also have a book for local medicinal herbs. And a first aid book. Read and learn.
You mentioned water stabilisation, is that necessary and if so is it a pretty simple process?
