My daughter bought tickets for a concert about 3 months ago. At the time, there was no mention of vaccine or mask requirements.
Now she gets informed she can only attend if she is vaccinated. They have an "All sales are final" statement, but I feel this last minute change could be seen as a breech of contract.
Are we basically screwed and charged by the system now for not complying?
Yes, ask the company to refund the money. This will seed an incident that they will have to say happened when the credit card company calls.
Chargebacks are AWEFUL for the company. They get like 10. Not a year, just 10 (may differ based on payment processor). They cut off from running cards against that payment processor. It is truly awesome.
Lol I've worked retail and customer service for a long time, so I've learned a thing or two but I didn't know until you just mentioned it the impact that a charge back will have on a company
Yeah, I got to work for a company that had a service they rebilled for. They almost went under due to a payment processor cutting them off. We got 10 CC processors after that.
Some required YUGE deposits. Get a chargeback and they hold like 1 year's worth of your rebilling money or 3 months. Enough that you hold the bag for any extra chargebacks and NOT THEM.
So we profiled account sign-ups based on all sorts of rules we learned while getting kicked in the shins. If CC processor cuts you off, you will never get them back.
CC company wants to know you tried to resolve this. Let WokeBrokeCorp know they owe a refund for any valid reason; terms change in this case. I have had a few WokeBrokeCorp say they will refund or cancle and not follow through. GOTCHA! Get some names and data as you go through this. Then let the CC company know why you deserve the chargeback. 'I canceled/tried to cancel, ask for a refund before shipping, ...'
Sort of Thors hammer lol.
