As banned as these books are, most of them are regularly assigned to high school classes. They are hardly removed from the generation coming up. Every one of those books also sells many copies each year.
You should have seen the reading lists for my kid’s summer reading this past summer. It was awesome. She’s in first year jr high, but requested to read from the high school list. She chose Lord of the Flies for one, and I don’t even remember what she chose for the second.
But the list was awesome. It’s a small, private Christian school. I’ve still got it somewhere- I actually saved it for her memory box bc it was great. I’ll see if I can find it.
