I agree. I don't think slavery was that bad. In fact, I would like to invite you to be my slave. I am a very kind and gentle slave master. I will offer you meaningful work and sufficient food and shelter. Your wife and children will be pleased to serve me.
***Hmmm...why the downvotes? I guess some people really believe all the overstated anti-slavery propaganda.
/ ultra The concept of owning another person as your property is not morally right by any measure. The first part of your statement is more of a bartering system than a gentle slave master. Ignoring today's slavery is bad too. There is a big difference in working for a specified period of time to pay off a particular amount of money with the option of moving on to make your own way in the world. VS Property... being bought from someone and not paid for your work and not being able to leave anytime you want to be free to make your own way in the world
Weren't they granted freedom after a certain time of working? How's that any different than current, work 40+ years, then hopefully retire comfortably?
White folks were. Indentured servitude was significantly different from slavery. In fact, traditionally, indentured servitude often only lasted for seven years.
Different types of slavery have existed throughout American history. No type has been institutionally as total as the enslavement of the Negro. You are certainly correct when suggesting that the Irish suffered oppression, however. Thanks for playing.
Once again, however, if you find slavery to be indistinguishable from your own life, I will be your master and you will come and work for me on my land. Your wife and children are my property, as well, of course, and I will determine what possessions you have. However, I will feed you enough to live on and I will never beat you unless you try to leave my property without my say so.
Isn't that pretty much what biden's fed regime is pushing for. I mean c'mon man, any transaction of $600 needs reporting. Meanwhile you can steal up to $900 in commiefornia with no repercussions
Pushing for slavery? Hmmm....one can oppose Xiden without pretending that his evils are different than they are. Slavery, for example, would not allow one to have ANY transaction of cash. One is not paid for one's labor under slavery. Soooooo, some might say slavery is a little bit worse than what Biden suggests.
Sometimes hyperbole obscures the nature of an honest grievance rather than illuminating the nature of that grievance through comparison. In this case, It is probably enough to denounce these plans on their own (de)merits without reference to the institutionalized enslavement of people, or, say, the Holocaust or other historic tragedies.

That was the indentured servant which was to pay iff a debt and only worked when the masters were honest and just

And I’m sure you would be more than happy to choose which children you could have as wives or concubines.
Were I a slavemaster, that would be so. It was and has ever been the frequently-exercised prerogative of slaveholders.
