It's ok to be gay, but few want to see it in their entertainment because it is quite gross to most people. So to push it into entertainment, especially where it serves no purpose to the plotlines is a turn off.

That is correct, however I don't the sudden homofication of a whole bunch of comic book characters in short order is capitalism. This is an organized effort that is not attempting to appease the market.
