I've looked around where I am and anyone aspiring to farm either has to marry into the land or inherit it. There is almost no way a young couple without being from a farming family will be able to buy land without renting it from a bank their whole lives and then passing on the bill to their children. Can you blame the older ones for cashing out? Kids of a passed farmer only see the $$$ when they are left to sell it so they have an auction and sell of a lifetime of operating equipment then the land and the next generation who is starting with nothing has to go "learn to code."
