I do it when I'm reading especially the Bible, really it's the only book I read now but I've always had a little rocking back and forward.
Jews do it as well and call it shuckling don't know why they do it, but for me it's rocking with my heartbeat and feels good man, like safety and deepens my concentration.
Could also be 'stimming'. Autistic people and people with ADHD do it. I don't 'rock' to stim, but I do stim in other ways. I was born in the late 70s and raised in the 80s so never diagnosed, back then it was just 'wtf is wrong with you kid?'
It's a coping mechanism. I've seen it myself in children deprived of love.
