I've boycotted Walmart out of principle since 2007 even though it was one of the only places I could shop locally. I've since moved and luckily have more options.
Second hand is the way to go. I stay out of Walmart as much as possible. There is no longer any competition for them where I live. K-mart bit the dust and the very few other stores like it went away years ago. Dollar General is a pretty good option, but they don't have a broad range of products, so thrift stores it is!
Yes it did. Nearly everyone in my family worked at a Sears store at some time. Great company even had profit sharing. Lots of employees retired with a ton of money due to that, and it was a great first job for many of us.
