Give them friendly, courteous and disarming. Folks today were quick to reciprocate. Everyone you smile at is one more small crack in the farce.
I caught one lady smiling back under her mask and I said to her, "I saw that..!" She looked at me and I told her that there was a pretty smile under that mask. She liked! I got an enthusiastic "Thank you."
These are the things that will fix this mess. I hope.

Lucky you. I feel like the more aware I am, the more pissed I am at the dumb mask mandates, knowing we don’t have to live like this. The people around me live in a bubble. They still live like it’s perfectly normal to have a face diaper on constantly. They don’t even know that there are places where people aren’t required to wear it.
