The Allies had nothing to do with Rommel's death. He was implicated in the plot to kill Hitler and due to his standing with the German people was allowed to kill himself rather than face the fate of other members of the plot. I believe his death was recorded as being due to a heart attack and he was given a full state funeral.
It is interesting that for the older generations who still enjoy a good memory, much of what is considered history is just a part of our life experience. A person in their 70's or 80's who had a close relationship with grandparents could easily have shared memories dating back to the late 1800's. That is one of the reasons the modern movement to erase history is so troubling.
