Well, I don’t think people who’ve grown up in “the land of plenty” are going to “get used to” any such thing. I feel like this is all white hats making the bad guys look bad to turn the populace against them. If this was really the bad guys doing this, don’t you think they’d be trying to be a bit more subtle to keep the sheep asleep, and continue on with their agenda in the dark. They’ve not come out into the light of their own accord - they’ve been exposed and that’s exactly what God has been saying He’s going to do. This is only making people more discontented and uncomfortable. It’s happening.
