This is basically what I do if something arises that I just can’t compromise on.
I supervise a large number of people, and I respect my boss and rarely have disagreements with him. But maybe a handful of times, there has been something that I just don’t agree with. Maybe he wants to implement a new policy.
I will straight up say, “I’m not going to do that.” If he wants to talk about why, I will explain my position, but every time the result has basically been me being told, “You have to.”
But every time, if they want to make it an issue (a few times I never heard any more of it), I’ve just said “I did tell you I wasn’t going to do that, do whatever you have to do, I understand.”
I’ve never even been written up.
It's actually a really nice way to say I don't give a fuck what you do I've made up my mind.
