Until 1987 doctors didn't use anesthesia on babies during surgery because they didn't think babies could feel pain. BABIES.

Exactly. Son born in 1990 and I was shocked when they asked me if I wanted them to administer localized pain anesthetic during the circumcision. WTF. There’s an option?! Sick fucks.
